Church stained glass

From ancient times, stained glass was used in temples.
In the early Christian temple, the windows were filled in by thin, transparent plates of stone (alabaster, selenite), of which was created an ornament.

In the temples of Germany, France, there were story stained glass windows. Colorful, large stained glass windows of various shapes, leaden webs were a feature of the Gothic cathedrals. Most often Gothic stained glass depicted religious and everyday life scenes. They were housed in huge arrow-shaped windows, and so called “roses” windows.

In classic church stained glass used a profile stained glass, glass of bright blue, red, purple, yellow colors. Often stained glass painting was used.

In modern temples, more and more classical technique is being replaced by Tiffany technique, allowing stained glass images to be made stronger, and use any form for designs. The faces of the saints are more common perform in painting technique. Stained glass windows in the temple emphasize monumental structures, leading to the thread of history, cause the thrill of the soul from Faith and beauty.
